As a Cumbrian business/organisation we are inviting you to sponsor a blank Herdwick ewe sculpture made of glass-reinforced plastic and have it decorated/illustrated/transformed by a local artist to reflect your activities and values – or just to have a piece of eye catching art! Your artist will transform the blank ‘3D canvas’ of a Herdwick ewe sculpture into a work of art.
At least 50 Herdwick ewes will be located outside sponsor’s premises or in accessible public spaces and a Herdwick trail created on the route linking Keswick and Windermere. An art trail map, posters and brochures naming all the sponsors and artists will be sold throughout the life of the project.
Herdwick spotting will attract visitors and residents alike.
In late September/early October 2016 the herd will be sold at a Grand Gala Auction and online to take up their retirement as fun pieces of artwork in offices, homes, shops and gardens. Your artists will receive a commission on the sale of their decorated Herdwick. Net profits donated to the Calvert Trust will be used to help fund fabulous new specialised facilities at their Old Windebrowe site in Keswick.
We will introduce you to artists who have come forward to support the project. We would be happy for you to use your own artist or involve a celebrity if you refer. Your name as sponsor and artists name will appear on a plaque on the sculptures base. Your details will also be on the trail maps.
Once a sponsor has teamed up with an artist your details will be posted to this website.
Please confirm your interest ASAP to Annie Read at sponsors@goherdwick.co.uk. Please call or email us if you have any questions.
