Karen has been working with various media for around 25 years, finding inspiration from a variety of sources, particularly the landscape, both natural and manmade.
It was only recently that she followed her dream to formally train to pursue a career in art. She took a Foundation Degree in Drawing with Cumbria University at Kendal College in 2011, where she developed her interest in printmaking. Over the years her work has been exhibited at galleries and venues throughout Lancashire and Cumbria and she now also teaches art in Adult Education classes as well as for private groups and individuals
Influenced by the the connections that Cumbria enjoys with China and the many visitors to Bowness and Windermere, one of her sheep draws on Chinese art and symbols in recognition of the many Chinese visitors to Bowness and Windermere. Her other sheep will be painted blue as a reference to water and in particular Lake Windermere and will contain transferred images relating to the Cruise boats and sailing on this lovely lake.
