Sophie is a freelance artist and illustrator based in Bowness on Windermere. She grew up near Kendal and spent her childhood in the Lake District climbing mountains and developing her love of the outdoors. She spent 9 years living in Edinburgh where she completed a degree in illustration at Edinburgh College of Art and subsequently worked as a freelance illustrator whilst also helping to run a small art gallery in Marchmont. Since retiring as a teacher I have developed my artistic skills and am studying for an MA in children’s book illustration. My interests are portraiture, life drawing printmaking and stained glass design.
