The Lake District Calvert Trust is delighted to announce that the fabulous auction prizes donated for its annual Charity Ball are now available for online bidding prior to the event on Friday 11th September. Prizes can be viewed and bids made online at: www.calvert-trust.org.uk/charity-ball
Prizes donated by generous supporters of the trust include: holiday breaks in Venice, France and the Isle of White; paintings by the late Dr Alistair Brewis; lunch at the highly acclaimed L’Enclume Restaurant; Catamaran sailing on Lake Windermere; or the opportunity to meet Ben Fogle at the Sands.
The black tie event will take place at the Low Wood Bay Hotel which is located in a fabulous setting overlooking the breath taking views of Lake Windermere. Guests will enjoy a delicious four-course dinner and evening entertainment including: live music from the talented Roz Sluman and The Smooch Band; a fun casino where you can try out your luck on Roulette or Blackjack and a lively Charity Auction with Auctioneer Colin Tomlinson.
During the evening James Rebanks, the popular ‘Herdy Shepherd’ and local author, will be introducing an exciting new project to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Lake District Calvert Trust; the first sculpture of the ‘Go Herdwick’ Public Art Trail will be on display at the Ball. The Trail is expected to attract thousands of visitors and will run from Easter through to autumn 2016.
All proceeds of the Calvert Trust Ball go towards the ‘Bridging the Gap Fund’ which enables visitors to come to the Trust without finances being a hindering factor. Supporting the 2015 Charity Ball helps to ensure that people with disabilities, who otherwise would not be able to afford to, can experience one of the Calvert Trusts truly life-changing courses which can provide positive results lasting long after their stay.
The Lake District Calvert Trust has almost 40 years’ experience in enabling people with disabilities to access the great outdoors and experience the thrill of activities they never considered possible. By challenging perceptions of disability, visitors to the Trust can return home with a new-found confidence and self-belief that acts as a catalyst to personal development & growth.
